On the final Friday of 2023, the digital streaming landscape was enriched with the debut of two female-centric films – Nayanthara’s Annapoorani and Hansika Motwani’s My Name is Shruthi.
Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food: (Netflix - Tamil)
The story of Annapoorani, an aspiring chef who wants to be well-versed in culinary skills including non-veg cuisines. Owing to her family being orthodox Brahmins and her father being the priest of the Srirangam temple; she is brought up as a vegetarian and this serves as an obstacle for the girl in fulfiling her passion. Her journey is no short of an extra-ordinary tale of life. Nayanthara, Jai, Sathiyaraj played the significant role.
The film marks the Lady Superstar Nayanthara's 75th film. Directed by debutant Nilesh Krishnaa, the film did not run well at the box office due to its weak writing and long-drawn screenplay.
The actress will be next seen in Test and Mannangatti Since 1960.

My Name Is Shruthi: (Prime Video - Telugu)
Hansika made a re-entry into Tollywood after a gap of almost four years with the movie My Name is Shruthi. This movie, which opened with a crime thriller plot. Hansika plays the role of Shruthi, who works for an ad agency and gets trapped in the skin mafia. How she comes out of it is the basic story of the film.
Amazon Prime Video is now (Dec 29) streaming on that platform. The makers did a sudden surprise without any announcement. Directed by newcomer Srinivas Omkar and stars Sai Tej, Aadukalam Naren, Murali Sharma, Pooja Ramachandran, Raja Ravindra, Jayaprakash round out the cast.
Currently, Hansika is acting in the movies '105 Minutes', 'Rowdy Baby' and 'Guardian'.
