Renowned Tamil director Mohan G., who shot to fame with his film Draupathi featuring actors Richard Rishi and Sheela Rajkumar in the lead. He has officially announced his next project after a brief hiatus. Following the success of Draupathi in 2020, which captivated audiences with its gripping storyline, the highly anticipated sequel, Draupathi 2, is set to return.

The makers announced the project with a title poster. Though the title is taken from the 2020 film, this project is not a sequel and is expected to be a period film revolving around the 14th-century Hoysala dynasty.

Richard Rishi, the brother-in-law of actor Ajith Kumar who played the lead in the first part, is to play the lead in the sequel as well.
